To My Valued Friends, Guests, and Family,
I am writing to inform you that I have made the difficult decision to close JRB Hair Co. effective immediately. I know this abrupt news may shock you terribly, so I apologize. Upon receiving this news, you’re probably experiencing a range of emotions, and very few of them are pleasant, and for that, I understand. Over the last six years, my dream has always been to provide an experience of love, acceptance, a safe place to dish the tea, and some damn fine hair to go with it. Each of you has helped me live that dream for over half a decade, and I’ll eternally be grateful. I’ve helped celebrate and mourn alongside many of my guest’s most significant life milestones and shared my achievements, goals, and ambitions with you all. With that in mind, this decision was not made lightly and gave me a great deal of personal anguish. It is one I have struggled to come to terms with as well.
At this point, I’m sure you’re wondering why I have chosen to make such a profound and altering decision, and I agree that I owe you an explanation. As many of you know, I have been commuting to Corona from San Diego for three years. While the drive by itself is not the reason for the decision, it has taken a tremendous toll on my vehicle and my physical and emotional health. Keeping that in mind, I was approached by a beauty school in San Diego looking for an Educator not long ago. Upon hearing their offer, I decided to accept their position and will be turning the page to a new chapter much closer to home in my career. While I hope you can understand why I have made the decision I have, I hope you also know that when debating between the two, there have been a lot of sleepless nights, a lot of tears, and a lot of thought behind it and it was never made lightly or without thinking of the feelings and emotions of all my guests who have become so much more like my friends and family over the years.
While I’m sure many of you will reach out in the coming days and weeks expressing either disappointment, understanding, or congratulations, keep in mind that you’re most likely not the only one doing so and that I’m human. Remember that closing this chapter of my life has been extremely emotionally difficult for me, and try to understand that I may not respond right away. However, on a lighter note, not all is gloom and doom for this announcement. Once the shock wears off and to ease the transition of finding a new stylist, I am happy to share your current color formulations so you can give them to your new stylist so they know where to pick up where I’m leaving off. I’m also happy to provide suggestions of some local stylists who I think would make an excellent fit for you based on your personality, hair goals, and current services. For either a stylist recommendation or your color formula or if you wish to reach out with concerns or thoughts please do so at jay@jrbhairco.com to ensure those messages don’t get lost in the chaos. Lastly, the school informed me during the hiring process that should I wish to use their facilities after hours to service guests, I’m welcome to do so. So while I’m not sure about the specifics yet, if you just can't bring yourself to change stylists, it will be an option for you to come to Poway and continue seeing me once I have established a working routine at the school.
With all my love,
-Jay
